Well, it turns out that we’ve been doing church wrong the whole time. We are called to assemble to edify one another in small groups not gather for worship services in giant modern day temples. If I’m being honest some how whenever I was in a ‘church service’ it just always felt wrong. I didn’t know what was wrong I just knew that it was.
Funny enough the only place where I felt right about ‘church’ was while in a small gathering in my father’s house. You see my parents had such an assembly in their house hold almost daily and I have since attended only one such small gatherings in another household since their deaths which only reaffirmed something already knew. We’re supposed to be gathering is small groups. No wonder witches have covens. In your spare time research how few people make a coven. Is it possible for the liar in chief himself to scam Christians into mass gatherings to cheat them out of the benefits of small gatherings as God designed for maximum impact? I think yes.
I 100% much prefer the model God instructed us to do over the mass gatherings with scheduled routine activities to do. Don’t just take my word for it though, hopefully these men are much more convincing. For whatever it’s worth, I for one am excited for the return of the house church because It’s much more intimate, tangible and ultimately more impactful because it serves a purpose of spurring measurable growth in each person.
Could it be that “Worship” is what we do throughout the week, and Edification is what we should do when we gather? 🤷🏽♀️ I honestly believe that all our worship to GOD is a cherry on top of an infinity sized cake because He needs nothing. We do him no favors by existing, He already is what He is and there’s no changing it. Worship is something we get the privilege to do not something He needs. Knowing Him, it’s more for our benefit than for His good. I have learned that when it comes to God, if He tells you to do anything? just start looking for the love embedded in it somewhere, cus I promise you, He needs you not.
“How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying.” – 1 Corinthians 14:26
Since we all know I am unashamedly biased in favor of GOD on all things, I zero qualms voting against the current church model. 🤷🏽♀️ SO here’s the details of my official “vote”/suggestion. We (Christ’s Body) keep mass church gatherings to annual conferences (national, regional, international, etc) WHILE maintaining a highly localized weekly assembly format (like local-local) I’m talking gatherings of households, single streets and living communities at the maximum. Nothing larger, if your intent/motive is to be what Jesus wants us to be on earth then the current mass model is just not working.
